Reading Chapters 11 and 12 from the Book of Luke this morning I can really see the importance of having a few other followers of Jesus with you on this journey of life. Jesus showed how important prayer was both for Himself and for His followers in the midst of daily life. Lord help me and your followers to pray like Jesus, to grow in our love for you, that praying would be encouraging and helpful. Jesus said “Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you.” Shortly Jesus is wrongly accused and slandered by religious people because Jesus wouldn’t follow their traditions. But Jesus speaks the word, speaking truth, resulting in more opposition. How important to have a strong relationship with Jesus and with others who follow Him. Really neat is that following this opposition Jesus speaks words of encouragement to His disciples, I guess because He recognized that with all the flak He was getting, the disciples were probably getting disheartened. I know I need encouragement! Jesus says, in the midst of the trouble they were getting, “be on guard against the yeast of the Pharisees, which is hypocrisy….do not be afraid of those who kill the body and after that can do no more…Fear him who, after the killing of the body, has power to throw you into hell…Be on your guard against all kinds of greed; a man’s life does not consist in the abundance of his possessions…do not worry about your life, what you will eat; or about your body, what you will wear. Life is more than food, and the body more than clothes….But seek his kingdom, and these things will be given to you as well…Do not be afraid, little flock, for your Father has been pleased to give you the kingdom.” I thank you Lord for You, for finding me, saving me, for givng me life and hope!
