Being the church

My family and I left the institutional church without any mixed emotions, but followed God in our decision and with no conflict, although some of the brothers and sisters were confused about why even after we tried to explain it to them. We did not leave them, we left the system that kept the body from freely functioning.

We got tired of “going to church” and it’s programs and decided to “be the church.” While I love my brothers and sisters in Christ who are in that form of “church” I can also see the human traditions that make up most of what is today’s institutional church and the effects of the clergy/laity divide has had on the spiritual life of the body of Christ.

My thoughts on being the church: Let us gather together in any place where we can freely function with no distinctions between us in face to face community sharing and living by Christ’s life under His headship. I pray that God would give us “a spirit of wisdom and of revelation in the knowledge of Him.”
